Local Law Firm Using Kubb Giveaway to Raise Money for Charity

There is something special about the cheers and camaraderie a Swedish lawn game can bring out. Kubb has been sweeping Wisconsin and the world and now the law firm of Gingras, Cates and Wachs is using the game’s increasing popularity to help raise money for kids at the YMCA.

“We thought this would be a great way to continue our mission of helping families and children. The YMCA makes a difference in lives and we’re proud to partner with them,” Attorney John Richie said.

The law firm has launched a charity auction complete with a custom designed and laser engraved Kubb set. In addition, the winning bidder will not only receive the set, they will also receive a certificate for a one-hour Kubb lesson with Eric Anderson, director of the National Kubb Championship. Eric’s team won 2nd place at the World Championship in Sweden in 2014, where he was named “Best Player in the Finals.”

The proceeds from this auction will benefit the YMCA’s Financial Assistance Program, which provides financial assistance for more than 2,000 people each year who cannot afford full-priced memberships and programs.

“The majority of these people have household incomes of less than $16,000 per year. Whether due to medical expenses, a job loss or other circumstances, these are people who really need our assistance. It’s wonderful the GCW law firm has stepped forward to help us give back to our community,” said Suzie Slota with the YMCA.

Attorney Beverly Wickstrom added, “Kubb is such a fun game. It’s a great fit to be able to auction off this set and raise money for an organization that does so much for the community.”

The Eau Claire YMCA provides classes and programs that promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The auction will run from October 12th through November 12th and can be found at: www.32auctions.com/rww_ymca_kubb_auction.
